Our weather has not cooperated consistently so far this season, but hopefully that will change soon!   The League is fortunate to have many people who give their time to help our kids and facilities.  The Board of Directors are excited to get the Regular Season started this Saturday April 2nd as we host Opening Day 2022 @ Oakdale Park.  Softball Opening Ceremonies will begin at 9:00 on Field #2 followed by Baseball Opening Ceremonies at 10:00 on Field #3.  Teams will gather prior to these events on the Right Field Line (1st Base side) and meet up with their team and coaches.

All Farm, Minor, and Major teams in Softball and Baseball will be introduced and we will also recognize the four State Tournament teams from 2021.  

 

You may not be aware, but there is a shortage of umpires in our League, State, and Country.  We have a number of umpires that will devote many hours officiating our games this season in Minor, Major, and Junior divisions.  This may be a person with many years of experience or very little, a Board member, a parent or grandparent, local high school player etc.  For this reason we ask that all League families, coaches, and players show appreciation for those giving their time to call a game.  Please don't yell at this person, question a ball or strike, or have any other verbal communication/exhibit ridiculing behavior...simply be a good spectator.  Cheer for all players, compliment others, and be respectful. If this happens, an individual may be asked to leave the Park.

If we don't have umpires, we can't play our games.

 

BCLL will host the Major Softball and 9, 10, 11 Softball State Tournament July 13-17.  This is a huge honor for our League that comes with many tasks to complete.  If you are interested in serving on the Tournament Committee in any capacity (Fundraising, Field Maintenance, T-shirts, Opening Meal, Announcing, Scoreboard Operator, Bookkeeper, Concessions, Lodging, Hospitality) please let us know.  There will be a meeting for those interested in helping on Sunday April 10th @ 5:30 in the Field 3 Clubhouse.  We are going to need many people to make this event successful and show the Commonwealth how great this part of Virginia is.
